ANGELS???

GOD'S MESSENGERS
GOD’S MESSENGERS

In today’s Blog I’d like to put together a collage of Scripture Texts to simply outline a Jigsaw picture of who the Angels are. I will go back in history to show where they came from, how some of them went wrong, and what they are doing now, especially here on this Earth. I will then conclude with how we are to relate to them as slightly lower creatures, and yet still important in our own right in the big scheme of God’s Creation, and precious children of the Universe!

THE ANGELS

  • WHAT ARE ANGELS?

Revelation 5:11       And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

5:12   Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing

5:13   And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Isaiah  6:1     In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

6:2     Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

6:3     And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.

  • MAN’S POSITION IN RELATIONSHIP TO ANGELS?

Psalms  8:3   When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

8:4     What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

8:5     For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

8:6     Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all [things] under his feet:

 8:7     All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8:8     The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, [and whatsoever] passeth through the paths of the seas.

8:9     O LORD our Lord, how excellent [is] thy name in all the earth!

Hebrews  2:9            But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

  • WHAT WAS THE HIGHEST FORM OF ANGEL AND WHAT HAPPENED TO ONE OF THEM?

Exodus  25:18          And thou shalt make two cherubims [of] gold, [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

25:19            And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: [even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.

25:20            And the cherubims shall stretch forth [their] wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces [shall look] one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

25:21            And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

25:22            And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which [are] upon the ark of the testimony, of all [things] which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel

Ezekiel  28:11           Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

28:12            Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

28:13            Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

28:14            Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire

28:15            Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

28:16            By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

28:17            Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

28:18            Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

28:19            All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt] thou [be] any more.

  • WHAT ABOUT OTHERS THAT FOLLOWED HIM?

Jude 1:6         And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day

Revelation 12:7       And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

12:8   And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven

12:9   And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him

  • WHO IS THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD?

John  12:31   Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John  14:30   Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

John  16:7     Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

16:8   And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

 16:9   Of sin, because they believe not on me;

 16:10            Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

16:11            Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged

Ephesians  2:2          Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

  • DID HE HAVE ACCESS TO HEAVEN FOR A TIME AFTER HE FELL AND WAS INITIALLY CAST OUT?

Job 1:6           Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

1:7     And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

1:8     And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

1:9     Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

1:10   Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

1:11   But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

1:12   And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath [is] in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

  • DOES SATAN, THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD, AND HIS FELLOW ANGELS, OR DEMONS, ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRINCE OF PRINCES AND KING OF KINGS, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST? SON OF GOD?

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

14:13            For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14:14            I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High

Matthew  4:1           Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

4:2     And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered.

4:3     And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4:4     But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

4:5     Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

4:6     And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

4:7     Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

 4:8     Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

4:9     And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

4:10   Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve

4:11   Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Mark 1:23     And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

1:24   Saying, Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

1:25   And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

1:26   And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

Matthew 8:28         And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way

8:29   And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

8:30   And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

8:31   So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

8:32   And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

  • WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THESE DEMONS, FALLEN ANGELS, DEVILS, IN THE END?

Matthew  25:41      Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation  20:7      And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

20:8   And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea.

20:9   And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

20:10            And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Malachi  4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

4:2     But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

4:3     And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do [this], saith the LORD of hosts.

  • ARE THERE ‘GOOD’ ANGELS?

Daniel  9:21  Yea, whiles I [was] speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

9:22   And he informed [me], and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding

9:23   At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Luke  1:18     And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

1:19   And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.

1:26    And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

1:27   To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name [was] Mary.

1:28   And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favoured, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women.

1:29   And when she saw [him], she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be

1:30   And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God

1:31   And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Hebrews 13:2          Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Genesis 19:15          And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

19:16            And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

2 Kings  19:31          For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD [of hosts] shall do this.

19:32            Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

19:33            By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

19:34            For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake

19:35            And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they [were] all dead corpses.

Psalms  34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

34:8   O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.

Matthew  18:10      Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Psalms  91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation;

91:10            There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

91:11            For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

91:12            They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

  • ARE THE ANGELS VISIBLE OR INVISIBLE?

John 3:7        Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

3:8     The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Ephesians  6:12       For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Colossians  1:16      For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Exodus  3:2   And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed.

3:3     And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

Judges 13:3  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou [art] barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son

Acts  12:5      Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

12:6   And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

12:7   And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands.

12:8   And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me

12:9   And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

12:10            When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

  • CAN THE DEMON ANGELS APPEAR VISIBLY?

Isaiah  8:19   And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

1 Samuel  28:7         Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, [there is] a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor

28:8   And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me [him] up, whom I shall name unto thee.

28:9   And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

28:10            And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, [As] the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing

28:11            Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

28:12            And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou [art] Saul.

28:13            And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

28:14            And he said unto her, What form [is] he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he [is] covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it [was] Samuel, and he stooped with [his] face to the ground, and bowed himself

28:15            And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

( Ecclesiastes  9:5    For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

9:6     Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.  )

1 Peter  5:8   Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

2 Corinthians  11:12           But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

11:13            For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

11:14            And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

  • LET US ALIGN OURSELVES WITH THE GODLY ANGELS, THAT WE MAY BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE IN THE END!  IT’S OUR ONLY SAFETY!
